9/11 Memorial

When my mom was in town last weekend, she stayed near the World Trade Center area in downtown Manhattan. Her hotel, Club Quarters, actually had a great rooftop restaurant/bar that overlooked the 9/11 Memorial. Before going to see the 9/11 Memorial, we had some yummy drinks. Then, because we loved the ambiance so much, we went back for dinner! It was surprisingly quiet and cool, a welcome respite from a busy and scorching day around town.

9/11 Memorial: the North and South pools at the foundations of the World Trade Centers, surrounded by rows of trees and the new Freedom Tower under construction on the NW corner.

I highly recommend visiting the 9/11 Memorial. It’s a powerful memorial to the almost 3,000 people who were killed that day. If you are planning a trip, be sure to reserve your free tickets ahead of time!
