That good old song of Wah-hoo-wah—
we’ll sing it o’er and o’er
It cheers our hearts and warms our blood
to hear them shout and roar
We come from old Virginia,
where all is bright and gay
Let’s all join hands and give a yell
for dear old U.Va.
Wah-hoo-wah, wah-hoo-wah! Uni-V, Virginia!
Hoo-rah-ray, hoo-rah-ray, ray, ray—U-Va!
Don’t worry, we’re still Tar Heels. In fact, football games still feel a little weird to both Rob and me, who love sporting our Carolina blue and telling Duke to go to… ahem. So donning ourselves in orange and navy blue, chanting nonsensical things like Wah-hoo-wah, and cheering for the Cavaliers is a little odd. Maybe by the end of the season (or next year’s season) we’ll feel a little differently (or at least have this song memorized for every time UVa scores!). But we’re enjoying the social aspect that football necessarily entails. Darden has its own tailgate spot every Saturday for some pre-game festivities/networking/socializing. It’s nice to see familiar faces in a sea of orange and blue! We also had fun watching the most recent game with another Darden couple that we’ve come to really enjoy hanging out with. Pretty soon we’ll be able to sing along to the Good Old Song!
And even though I’m in Chapel Hill this weekend, I sure hope those Cavaliers pull out a win against VMI! Wah-hoo-wah!
